Sareen group is based in the Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratories (MHL)(https://mhl.engin.umich.edu/), the premier facility at the Central Campus of the University of Michigan, consisting of several cutting-edge facilities, including a 360 ft by 22 ft Towing Tank that is equipped with its own machine shop, model building facility, and electronics laboratory that are operated by skilled technical professionals.
Along with the premier facilities at the MHL, the Sareen group will have an exclusive access to an upcoming Low-Turbulence Recirculating Free Surface Water Channel Facility. The facility will be equipped with a Time-Resolved Particle-Image Velocimetry (PIV) that can be configured for Planar or Stereoscopic configurations. It will also be equipped with a 4D-PTV system (Shake-The-Box) for time-resolved 3D flow measurements. Other equipment will include force/torque sensors, displacement sensors, 1D/2D air-bearing rigs, and flow visualization techniques based on dye and hydrogen bubbles.
