Meet our amazing team

We’re an enthusiastic group of creative individuals interested in Experimental Fluid Dynamics research to solve some pressing energy and environmental issues.

Anchal Sareen

Anchal Sareen

Principal Investigator

Anchal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. She is an Experimental Fluid Dynamicist with a vision to combat the global societal challenge of climate change. Apart from Fluid Mechanics, she is also passionate about Aikido (Japanese Martial Arts). In her free time, she likes to play guitar, do painting, and hike outdoors.

Lokesh Silwal

Research Fellow

Lokesh joined the lab in August 2024 as a Research Fellow. His research focuses on flow control of bio-inspired propulsion devices. In free time, he likes to play soccer and music.

Sayre Satterwhite

Ph.D. pre-candidate

Sayre joined the Experimental Fluid Dynamics Lab as a graduate student in the Fall of 2024. His research interests lie in combining control theory and environmental flows to create practical energy solutions. Beyond research, he spends his free time designing, welding, and riding bicycles. Relaxation comes in the form of playing the bass guitar and fiddling.

Putu Brahmanda Sudarsana

M.S. student (By Thesis)

Putu Brahmanda Sudarsana (Nanda) is a Master’s student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on drag reduction via biomimetic approaches. In his free time, Nanda likes to play classical guitar and videography.

Dogtor Bernoulli

Postdog

Dogtor Bernoulli joined the lab in October 2023. He oversees the lab operations.

Past Students/Postdocs

Rodrigo

Rodrigo Vilumbrales-Garcia

Research Fellow

Rodrigo joined the lab in December 2023 as a Research Fellow. His research focuses on flow control over pitching hydrofoils.

In his free time, he likes reading classics, oil painting, and watching football.
Slate Davis

Slate Davis

M.S. (By Thesis)

Slate graduated with a Master’s by thesis in the Experimental Fluid Dynamics group in December 2023. He is currently working at Williard Marine, California, as an Associate Naval Architect.

Aditya Madhukar

Undergraduate student

Aditya is currently a senior in Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on developing morphable surfaces with adaptive drag-reduction capabilities. In his free time, he likes to swim, kayak, and bike.
